Enlist the steps involved in inbreeding of cattle. Suggest two disadvantages of this practice.

Superior Female: It is the cow or buffalo that produces more milk per lactation. ​ Superior Male: It is the bull that gives rise to a superior progeny as compared to other males. The steps involved in the inbreeding of cattle are as follows:

Superior males and superior females of the same breed are identified and are made to mate in pairs.​ The progeny obtained is evaluated and superior males and females among them are identified for further mating.​

Following are the two disadvantages of the process of inbreeding:

Continuous inbreeding among cattle causes inbreeding depression. It decreases the fertility and also the productivity of an animal.
