Here is it in simple language and can be understand easily.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Minimum_Gurranted_Pension\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minimum Gurranted Pension:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are discussed three cases with different service duration to make the complete understanding of structure of UPS to employees of central government.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Case_1_25_Years_of_Service\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Case 1: 25 Years of Service<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an employee\u2019s average basic salary for the first 12 months after retirement is \u20b950,000, and the employee has worked for 25 years while contributing 10% monthly, the pension would be calculated as:<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pension = \u20b925,000 + Dearness Relief (DR<\/span><b>)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (50% of the basic salary).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Case_2_15_Years_of_Service\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Case 2: 15 Years of Service<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an employee has done service of 15 years and the salary structure of average basic pay 50,000 for the first 12 months after retirement the pension would be \u20b915,000 + DR (calculated at a rate of 30%).<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Case_3_10_Years_of_Service\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Case 3: 10 Years of Service<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And an employees with 10 years of service with the salary structure of average basic pay 50,000 for the first 12 months after\u00a0 retirement will receive the prescribed minimum pension amount, which is \u20b910,000 + DR under the UPS.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Agency_for_Regulations\"><\/span>Agency for Regulations:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pfrda.org.in\/?utm_source=saralstudy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PFRDA<\/a>) <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">may be the agency to <\/span>issue regulations <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for operationalizing the UPS. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Key_Insight_for_Unified_Pension_Scheme\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Key Insight for Unified Pension Scheme<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When calculated as a percentage, the pension amount is approximately double the number of years of service. As an example<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0An employee with 20 years of service and a basic pay of \u20b940,000 would get a 40% pension or \u20b916,000 + DR.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This simplified method combines longer tenure with more benefits while ensuring retired employees&#8217; financial stability.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Employees_Contributions_in_Unified_Pension_Scheme\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employees Contributions in Unified Pension Scheme:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employees must contribute 10% of their basic salary and Dearness Allowance (DA) under the scheme, which retains the NPS contribution-based model.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To improve retirement benefits, the government&#8217;s share has been increased to 14%.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eligibility_Criteria_for_Unified_Pension_Scheme\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eligibility Criteria for Unified Pension Scheme:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For central government employees who started working after January 1, 2004.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until they choose the UPS, employees covered by the previous pension plan will keep receiving their benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Benefits_of_a_Family_Pension\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benefits of a Family Pension:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A guaranteed pension, calculated using the same 50% formula of the employee&#8217;s last drawn salary, will be given to the family in the case of an employee&#8217;s death.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Flexibility_in_Withdrawal\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flexibility in Withdrawal:\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In times of emergency, such as when children joined for higher education or some medical emergencies the UPS allows for partial withdrawals.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Reasons_behind_the_Unified_Pension_Scheme\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reasons behind the Unified Pension Scheme<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The differences between NPS and the previous pension system were supposed to be resolved by the Unified Pension Scheme.
