Gynaeceum of a flower may be apocarpous or syncarpous. Explain with the help of an example each.

Answer

The Multicarpellary gynaeceum having fused pistils is called syncarpous but when the pistils are free it is called apocarpous.

Example of syncarpous gynaeceum are: Tomato,Tulip.

Example of apocarpous gynaeceum are: Liriodendron, Ranunculus sp, Rose, Magnolia, Strawberry
