Mention the ploidy of the different types of cells present in the female gametophyte of an angiosperm.
The different types of cells in the female gametophyte arises due to repeated mitotic division of the functional megaspore. This functional megaspore is in turn developed by the meiotic division of megaspore mother cell, thus haploid in nature. So, all the cells present in the female gametophyte is haploid in nature. However, the central cell consist of two haploid nuclei, which may fuse to give rise to a single diploid nuclei. So, Ploidy level of central cell may be diploid.
