Explain the importance of ‘selection’ during inbreeding in cattle.
Importance of ‘selection’ during inbreeding of catlle is as follows:
(i) By selection at every step, productivity of inbreed population is increased.
(ii) It helps in the accumulation of desired superior genes, so as to obtain more milk per lactation.
(iii) It helps in eliminating the less desirable genes from cattle population.
(iv) It helps to eliminate the harmful recessive genes.
