‘Take care of the small things and the big things will take care of themselves.’ What is the relevance of this statement in the context of the Antarcticenvironment?

Answer:

This statement gives the message that a small change in environment can lead to the bigger and drastic developments.  We can understand this statement by taking the example of small grass called phytoplankton. These green grasses go into the process of photosynthesis and lot of animals and marine birds are dependent on it. These plants are source of food for the animals and marine birds. The author says that if there would be further depletion of the ozone layer then it will affect the phytoplanktons and carbon cycle on the globe. So by taking care of these processes which are carried out by plants or grasses then big marine life or bigger animals or mammals can be taken care by themselves.
