During the south west monsoon period, the moisture laden winds blow from sea to land. They blow from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal towards land.

Loo is the hot and dry wind which blows during the day in summers.

At that time, the wind moves back to the Bay of Bengal and this season is called retreating monsoon.
