What changes are observed in the uterus subsequent to implantation of young embryo?
Answer:
Implantation is the attachment of the blastocyst to the uterine wall in females. It takes place about seven days after fertilization. Several changes are observed in the uterus subsequent to implantation of young embryo:
Blastocyst develops the rudiment of chorion, extraembryonic membrane or thickened cells to support the developing embryo, which then forms placenta. The chronic cells secrete a hormone human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (hCG), which maintains the corpus luteum and then secrete progesterone (increase the secretion of mucus in the cervix that provides a protective plug during pregnancy).
Uterine lining helps in to provide the nutrition and other essential components to the developing foetus through the blood vessels.
