With time, Shah Rukh moved on from his lover boy image and donned various other roles to stay in the race. He made a six pack body for his movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ that sent women all over the world drooling.

He also set up his own production house, distribution agency and VFX studio. The superstar who came from an ordinary background had established his camp in the Hindi film industry.

Shah Rukh sustained a spine injury in 2001 while shooting for a special appearance for ‘Shakti: The Power’. However, his hard working nature and commitment to his work did not allow him to cancel his work appointments and seek treatment. He kept attending programmes and shooting for movies in acute pain and finally had to fly to London for surgery in 2003.

He went through severe pain post the surgery and had to cut down on the number of films he did after that. He shot the movies ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ and ‘Main Hoon Na’ a few months after his surgery but the song and dance sequences had to be postponed.

Shah Rukh Khan is also a philanthropist at heart but unlike many other celebrities he prefers keeping mum over his philanthropic activities. He has adopted as many as 12 villages in ‘Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara, Odisha’ to provide them electricity through solar energy.

He has won several awards and recognitions both nationally and internationally and is unquestionably the most popular Bollywood personality all over the world.
