To practice as an Ayurvedic doctor, you need a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s in Ayurvedic Medicine (BAMS). To apply for the BAMS course, a student should have a pass in class XII examination in science background, with physics, chemistry and biology combination. Also, you should possess a working knowledge of Sanskrit. Admission to the Ayurvedic colleges in India is on the basis of an all-India entrance examination. However, some institutes base admission on merit, that is, marks obtained in plus two. The bachelor’s is a five-and-a-half-year degree program. Those who have a BAMS degree can pursue a PG in Ayurvedic medicine. The course lasts for 3 years, granting the degree of MD(Ayu) and MS (Ayu).
