India has always been at the forefront of this industry with its slew of vibrant colours, embroidery skills, and traditional styles. The growing awareness of fashion and style has given rise to huge demands in the industry and fashion technology is constantly on an upward trend. There is a growing demand for all sorts of professionals related to this industry: fashion designers, fashion journalists, production managers, photographers, show managers, project coordinators, image enhancers, makeup artists, public relations, models, and agencies.

A style that may be the rage this season is gone by the next and in the contemporary scenario the shelf life of fashion items is only getting shorter and the demand for newer style statements is growing by the day. Global research shows that the number of male shoppers is steadily inching up the graph and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. India has long been the desired destination of most fashion houses around the globe. The fabrics are multifaceted and the colours are bright and sunny. The art and craftsmanship of Indian artisans are heavily in demand in both Europe and the West and our Export industry actually relies heavily on our performance in the fashion and apparel sector. The labour cost is much cheaper in comparison to the developed countries and the raw material is easily available. The ethnicity of various regions adds more colour and attraction to the style options that India is able to offer due to its multicultural society.

Given the sheer demographics, India is a huge hub for the fashion industry and fashion technology has the best environment to flourish here. The Indian fashion industry has just begun to come of age and is still in the nascent stages. There are endless opportunities for the right kind of taker. In 2011 and 2012 the Indian government enacted policies to allow hundred per cent foreign direct investments in single-brand retailing and 51% in multi-brand retailing. This has made India the hot spot of the fashion industry and in the coming years, there will be a lot of tough completion in this sector. This will create more and more opportunities for growth in the future of fashion technology in India. It is an industry and sector that is standing at the edge of a revolution of sorts as the Indian middle class gets more affluent and gathers more buying power. Leading apparel manufacturers are diversifying their product range to match the international competition and fashion technology is headed towards unprecedented growth.
