The government of Uttar Pradesh along with the social welfare department have come up with a UP scholarship 2020 to provide the students at different levels of education in the state with financial assistance and better opportunities. The scholarship contains several pre-matric as well as post-matric schemes for students irrespective of their category.

Am I eligible?

To know that if you are eligible for the scholarship or not do consider the following criteria-


You must be a resident of UP and thus, possess a domicile certificate issued by the respective authority.

You must be a student enrolled in an institute(school/college) of the state only.


For pre-matric category you must either be studying in class 9th or class 10th

For post-matric category, you must have qualified 10th standard and be enrolled in class 11th or 12th.

For post-matric category other that class 11th and 12th, you must have qualified 12th standard and be enrolled in any higher education programs in an institute of the state.


For pre-matric-annual family income must not exceed 1 lakh for all categories

For post matric-Annual family income should not exceed 2 lakhs for all categories.

Further, you must possess all the relevant certificates to prove your status.

How to apply?

  1. First of all, Visit the UP Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Online System (scholarship.up.nic.in/) or Visit http://scholarship.up.nic.in/RegistrationNew.aspx

  2. Go to the ‘Student’ section and click on ‘New Registration

  3. Select the category and scholarship you wish to apply for.

  4. Now visit the UP-scholarship Portal and repeat the step 3.

  5. Register, using your registration number, D.O.B, and password.

  6. Click on the ‘Apply for Scholarship’ button to be redirected to the application form.

  7. Fill in the details and Click ‘Submit’.

  8. Upload the required documents by going back to the dashboard and selecting ‘Upload Documents’.

  9. After completion of the entire process, do print the scholarship application and submit it to your respective institution for verification.

What do I need?

To prove your candidature for the scholarship you must attach all the required documents to your application form namely-

  1. Residential proof such as Aadhar card, ration card, voter ID, etc. 

  2. Caste Certificate (If applicable)

  3. Domicile Certificate

  4. Annual Income Certificate (online generated)

  5. Student ID

  6. Bank Pass Book of candidate

  7. Fee Receipt /admission letter of current year

  8. Current registration number of present board/university

  9. Latest Passport Size Scanned Photograph

And several other related document and certificates.

When to apply?

The government accepts the applications for the UP scholarships between July to August. You can also check the status of your application while it is being processed. The process is online and can be viewed at the official website.
