Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) in the field of Basic Sciences is a national-level fellowship program. KVPY is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. The KVPY fellowship program was introduced in the year 1999. Its main aim is to encourage the students to take part in research careers in Science. Under this program, all the eligible students are offered scholarships and fortuity grants until the pre-Ph.D level.

Its aim is to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best research-based talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship and fortune grants are issued to the chosen KVPY Fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level / 5 years whichever is earlier.

The KVPY exam has three streams:

  • SA: Students who are pursuing in Science and are currently in Class 11th
  • SX: Students who are pursuing in Science and are currently in Class 12th
  • SB: Scholars who are pursuing a program in Basic Science and currently are in their first year of graduation.

 KVPY Eligibility

Students who are currently studying in class 11, 12 and first year of the undergraduate program in Basic Sciences can apply for KVPY fellowship under streams SA, SX, and SB respectively. Check the detailed stream-wise KVPY eligibility below:

KVPY Scholarship Selection Process

Aptitude Test: The candidates meeting the eligibility criteria for different streams, would be called for the aptitude test that will be conducted in both Hindi and English at different centers over the country on 31st January.

Admit Card

From the second week of January, students may download the admit card for the aptitude test from the official website.

Benefits of KVPY Scholarship

  • During the graduation and post-graduation selected students are provided with KVPY scholarship money.
  • Applicants can also apply for the admission to IISc and IISER through their KVPY ranks.
  • KVPY fellows would be given preferences over others, during the counseling of IITs admission.
  • SA students will be invited to the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp, during the mentoring period of one year.  KVPY will be funding SA students travel and other related expenses.
  • KVPY Fellows will be invited to participate in the summer program/project in an approved research lab from the second year of the UG course.
  • Each student who would be selected for KVPY 2020 scholarship, will be issued an ID card using which he/she can access the library, laboratory facilities, etc. at the National Laboratories / Universities.

KVPY Application Process

There are four steps for filling the applications which are as follows:

Step 1: Registration

  • First, visit  the official site of KVPY
  • Now, click on the application link.
  • After clicking on the applications link then it will direct you to the applications page after that click on the “Registration and Application login”.
  • Now, after reading the general instructions click on the “Click here for registration” link.
  • If you are new and do not have login details then click on “Click here for registration”.
  • Enter the required details asked in filling the registration form
  • Click on the “Register” button.
  • After the registration, the applicant will get the “User ID” and “Password” on the registered Mobile No. and Email.
  • Note down the User ID & Password for future use.

Step 2: To Fill the Application and Login Form

  • Enter “User ID” & “Password”.
  • Click on the “Login” button.
  • Fill other required details.
  • After filling the details upload the scanned photograph, signature, and Cast/Disability certificate.
  • After filling all the important details, candidates may review all the details before submitting their application form. For reviewing the application form Click on “Preview Application”.
  • Lastly, click on the “Submit” button.

Note: The max size of the photograph should be less than 150 KB and the signature’s less than 80 KB and Caste certificate size should be 300 KB in JPEG / JPG / PDF format.

Step 3: For Fee Payment

  • Re-login again for the fee payment.
  • Select the Payment mode.
  • Candidates can submit their application fee through Online or Offline mode
  • Click on the “Submit” button after completing the payment process.
  • A message “Your Application is under Scrutiny” will be shown on top of the Application Form.

Step 4: Check the Application Status

  • Login again with the “User ID” & “Password” after two days to check the status of the application.
  • After logging in “Your application is successfully submitted” or “Your Application has been Approved” message will be shown on top of the application.
  • After the approval of the application take the printout of the submitted application form for future reference.

KVPY Application Fee

The application fees for the KVPY are as follows:

  • For General/OBC Category: Rs. 1250
  • For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 650 (Bank Charges extra)

KVPY Exam Pattern

Stream SA

There will be a total of 80 questions which will be divided into parts 1 and 2.

  • The total marks for the SA stream are 100.
  • Part 1 will contain 60 questions of 1 mark each. Every correct answer will carry 1 mark and for every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • Part 2 will contain 20 questions of 2 marks each. Every correct answer will carry 2 marks each and for every wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted.

Q1. When does the KVPY advertisement come in the national newspapers?

Ans. The advertisement for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national newspapers on Technology Day (May 11), and on the second Sunday of July every year.

Q2. Is it necessary that the students have to study all the four subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics?

Ans. All questions are compulsory (Science and Mathematics) in the Stream-SA.

In respect of the streams SX and SB, there are two pasts, Part I there will be four sections (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Math) and four sections in Part II (Physics, Chemistry, Math, and Biology).  In part-I candidates may answer any THREE of the four subjects in and in part-II any two of the four subjects. In case any candidate attempts more sections than the best of three in Part I and the best of two in Part II will be considered.

Q3. Along with a merit scholarship can I avail the KVPY Fellowship?

Ans. KVPY doesn’t allow its individual to receive fellowship /scholarship from more than one, source either it is govt. or private. In case they are in receipt of any other fellowship or scholarship, they will have to let go of it in order to avail of the KVPY Fellowship.

Q4. When can I get the application form?

Ans. The KVPY publishes its detailed advertisement on the 2nd Sunday of the month of July every year. After the publication of the advt. the application form can be obtained.

Q5. When and How can I download the ADMIT CARD?

Ans. Candidates can download their ADMIT CARD during the 2nd week of January by logging in to the application portal at the KVPY website. Details regarding the Examination venue and seat number will be provided in the admit card.

INSPIRE Scholarship Scheme: Full form of the INSPIRE is Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research.

The government of India and The Department of Science and Technology (DST) launched the INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) program to help meritorious scholars undertaking bachelor’s and master’s courses in Natural and Basic Sciences. This scholarship scheme is given to 12,000 scholars every year. The total amount of the scholarship is Rs.80,000 yearly for pursuing any subject of Basic Sciences or Natural. The applicant planning on applying for the INSPIRE 2020 Scholarship should fill-up the Application form. And submit it before late December.

This is important for the candidate that they must register themselves first and have to give the information in the registration form which is valid and correct. INSPIRE Scholarship Scheme

INSPIRE Scholarship Scheme:  Training and Generation of a human talent pool capable of using and promoting first laws in science is both a pre-condition. And an essential part of such an innovation foundation. An India distinct model for extracting talent for research and innovation, Natural sciences & for a career in Basic is needed. An innovative agenda titled Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) has been established by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) to extract talent for the enthusiasm and study of science at an initial age. And to support the country develop the demanded critical resource pool for strengthening and developing the S&T system and R&D base by a long-term vision.

INSPIRE Scholarship Scheme provided by INSPIRE

Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS)

It strives to attract talented youth to study science by implementing INSPIRE Award Scholarship of Rs.5000 to one million young students of the age group 10-15 years, ranging from Class VI to Class X standards, and also by providing summer camps for about 50,000 science students of Class XI with global leaders in science to feel the joy of innovations on a yearly base through INSPIRE Internship.

Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)

It seeks to improve rates of addition of skilled youth to extend higher education in science- intensive programs, by giving scholarships and mentorship. This scheme allows 10,000 Scholarship every year at Rs.0.80 lakh per annum for the skilled youth in the age between 17-22 years, for allowing Bachelor and Masters level education in natural sciences. The main a component of the scheme is the mentorship support given to every student.

Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC)

It intends to engage, attract, connect, and nourish young scientific Human Resources for developing the R&D foundation and base. It has two sub-components. In the first part i.e. INSPIRE Fellowship 2020 (age group of 22-27 years), it awards 1000 fellowships every year, for carrying out a doctoral degree in both basic and applied sciences including engineering and medicine. In the second component i.e. The INSPIRE Faculty Scheme gives the guaranteed opportunity each year for 1000 post-doctoral researchers in the age between 27-32 years, within contractual and security track positions for 5 years in both basic and applied sciences areas.

INSPIRE Scholarship Eligibility

To apply for Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE), the applicants must qualify class 12 and proceeding courses in Natural Sciences at the B.Sc. or Integrated M.Sc. level. The complete information about the INSPIRE Scholarship Eligibility is given below:

  1. The applicant should be between the Age of 17-22 years.
  2. The candidates should be among the top 1% of the successful students in terms of overall marks in their 10+2 board exams.

  6. The candidates who are KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna), National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Olympiad Medallists, and Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) student and are seeking courses in Natural/Basic Sciences commencing to B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree are eligible.

In the beginning, the candidate must register as a new user on the INSPIRE Scholarship Portal. 

  • The candidate gets a user ID and password on their registered email ID where they need to click on the activation link to activate his/her account.
  • The candidate should have the scanned copies of all the needed documents as separate files before filling the application form.
  • By using the INSPIRE scholarship portal the candidate should log in to his/her username and password.
  • Then, the applicant should fill in all the details like enrolment, information personal particulars at B.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc. level,  contact details, a national level competitive exam details, senior secondary performance information, and other details in the scholarship application form.
  • Furthermore, All the scanned pictures of all the required documents uploaded by the candidate in support of the INSPIRE online scholarship application form.

Terms & Conditions

There are some terms & conditions that aspirants require to obey in order to apply for this scholarship. The list of terms and conditions that an applicant needs to keep in mind while applying for the INSPIRE Scholarship is given below.

  1. INSPIRE- Students are awarded by (SHE) for five years, starting from the 1st year B.Sc., BS, Integrated MS/M.Sc, or till the fulfillment of the course, whichever occurs earlier.
  2. Applicants need to submit completed applications as the incomplete application form is entitled to be rejected.
  3. Subjects such as Engineering, Medicine, Military Science, Defence Studies, Agriculture, Psychology, Seed Technology, Anthropology, Home Science, Geography, Economics, Education (including B.Sc.-B.Ed. dual degree course), Biotechnology, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Bio-informatics, Instrumentation, Information Technology, Physical Education, courses in Distance Education mode at the Open Universities and other professional courses are not supported under SHE scholarship.
  4. A regular Savings Bank Account in any branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) only should be opened by the INSPIRE student. The account needs to be in the name of the candidate and it should not be a joint account.
  5. Shortlisted applicants need to submit their year-wise performance report (which is signed by the Head of the Institution) and mark sheet of their BS, BSc, Int. MS/MSc course for the release of the scholarship. Head of the Institution refers to Vice- Chancellor/Registrar/Dean of Science in the case of Universities and Principal/Vice-Principal/Proctor/Officer-in-Charge in case of colleges.
  6. The Head of the Institution should surely mention in the performance report of the INSPIRE Scholarship If the scholarship can be extended or not in that academic year.
  7. At the initial time, the scholarship is issued only after the approval of the INSPIRE Scholarship Performance Report and mark sheet of 1st year B.Sc, BS, Int. MS./M.Sc If the academic performance of the applicant is satisfactory, two years of scholarship, that is, INR 1,20,000 is released through the applicant’s 2nd year of B.Sc, BS, Int. MS/M.Sc.
  8. Applicants availing any other scholarship from other sources are not fit to receive this scholarship.

The main basis for eligibility is that the pupil should have a domicile of Punjab state. Other eligibility criteria are listed below:

The application process for the scholarship is online. In the scholarship portal, the Ashirwad application form is available. Thus interested applicants could apply within a specific time. The detailed procedure for online application is given below:

  • Interested candidates should visit the Punjab Scholarships official website.
  • He/she then must click on the – “Post-matric Scholarship Portal” under the “Students Corner” section.
  • If you are a new user, then the applicant must click on the- Student Registration tab to register on the scholarship portal. A User ID and password are created on successful registration.
  • The applicant then login to the portal by using the registered User ID and password.
  • The aspirant can get the Ashirwad Scholarship online application form and that must be filled with all the necessary details.

Started by the Department of Higher Education, MHRD, Central Sector Scholarship is a Merit-cum-means scholarship programme funded by the central government.

Central Sector Scholarship was initiated as an objective for the welfare of financially underprivileged students. Every year, around 82,000 graduates and postgraduates receive this scholarship.

Equal number of scholarships are provided to both the genders which means that if 41,000 scholarships are offered to the boys, the rest 41,000 are reserved for girls.

Since the main objective of the Central Sector Scholarship program was to provide monetary help to students who belong to financially unstable families In order to help them attain further education, around 82,000 scholarships are offered by the authorities every year in equal proportions to ensure equality between the genders.

After separating the population on the basis of CBSE and ICSE, the scholarships are dispersed to the state education board according to the demographics of 18 to 25 year olds in the state.

These scholarships are divided in a 3:2:1 ratio for the students of Science, Commerce and arts.

GOKDOM Scholarship Eligibility- Who can Apply?

Since it’s the Government of Karnataka that offers the GOKDOM scholarship scheme, there is a major eligibility criteria that candidates have to pass in order to apply for the scholarship.

The most important of all being that only the students who belong to the minorities and possess the domicile of Karnataka are eligible for this scholarship programme. Furthermore, interested candidates are requested to have a look at the important points regarding the eligibility criteria for the scholarship as given below.

1) GOKDOM pre-matric scholarship

  • Only the students from class 1 to 10 can apply.
  • Apart from the students of class 1, all the other candidates should have scored more than 50% on their previous examination.
  • The total family income of the candidate shouldn’t exceed 1 lakh.
  • Students that currently study in the state of Karnataka but do not belong here are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Students that possess the domicile of Karnataka but are currently studying in some other state can apply for the scholarship.

2) GOKDOM post-matric scholarship

  • Applicants of this scholarship can be a student of class 11th to PhD.
  • The percentage marks scored by the applicant on the last examination taken must be more than 50% or above.
  • The family income of the candidate must not be more than 2 lakhs.
  • Candidates that are studying through correspondence or certificate/training courses are not eligible.
  • Students that currently study in the state of Karnataka but do not belong here are not eligible for the scholarship.

3) GOKDOM Merit-cum-means scholarship

  • Candidates must be pursuing graduation or post-graduation in a technical/professional field.
  • The percentage marks scored by the applicant on the last examination taken must be more than 50% or above.
  • The family income of the candidate must not be more than 2.5 lakhs.

4) GOKDOM National overseas scholarship

  • Candidate must be less than 38 years of age at the beginning of the course.
  • The percentage marks scored by the applicant on the last examination taken must be more than 60% or above.
  • This scholarship scheme is only applicable to selected courses.

5) GOKDOM incentive for SSLC & 2nd PUC

  • Candidates are required to have passed class 10th or 12th with 85% or more.

6) GOKDOM M.Phil. and PhD fellowship

  • Candidates should be less than 35 years of age.
  • Annual family income of the candidate must not exceed 6 lakhs.
  • Full time or government employees are not eligible for this scholarship.

The candidates are required to bring along the following documents in order to apply offline / be ready with the same in case applying online.

  • A passport size photograph of the candidate.

PM Scholarship Scheme (PMSS): Eligibility, Application Process, Documents, Benefits, Renewal

PM Scholarship Scheme (PMSS): The Prime Minister’s Scholarship scheme aims at encouraging technical, post-graduate education for the dependent widows and children of the deceased or ex-service officers of Armed Forces, State Police Personnel, RPF, Para Military forces. The scheme was launched in 2006 and is funded through the National Defence Fund. The scheme was earlier applied through offline mode but from the year 2016-17, it can be applied through online mode. It is run by the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The scholarship is active throughout the year except January to April.

PM Scholarship Eligibility- Who can Apply?

The main eligibility conditions that are needed to fulfill for the scholarship are given below –

  • Candidate must be a dependent child, widow of the deceased, or ex-service officer of the Army. The student must be studying professional courses

Prime Minister scholarship – Selection Process

The Ministry of Home Affairs is solely responsible for the disbursement of the scholarships but preference is given in this manner:

Category A: The 1st preference is given to the children and widows of CAPFs & AR personnel who were killed in action.

Category B: The 2nd preference is given to the children of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel who got disabled in action.

Category C: The 3rd preference is given to the children and widows of deceased CAPFs & AR personnel who died during their service for causes attributable to Government service.

Category D: The 4th preference is given to the children of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel who got disabled during their service with disability attributable to Government service.

Category E: The 5th preference is given to the children of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel who have received gallantry children.

Category G: Lastly, the preference will be given to the children of serving CAPFs & AR personnel (PBOR) subject to the availability of the scholarship.

Terms and Conditions for PM Scholarship

  • Candidates should respond in the time immediately after receiving an email or SMS from Kendriya Sainik Board.
  • Email and Mobile Number registered once should not be changed as all messages are being sent to the registered number or email.
  • Candidates staying aboard and distance learning are not eligible.
  • The application will be rejected automatically in case any observation raised from ZSB, RSB and KSB is not rectified within the given time of 10 days.

Applications suspected will not be sent for scholarship and will be thrown-away at the same time.

Government Scholarship Schemes for students: The Ministry of Education, Government of India offers several scholarships every year for financial assistance to students at school and college level. 1. Central Sector Scholarship Scheme (CSSS)

2. National Means cum Merit Scholarship

Meritorious students coming from economically weaker sections can take advantage of this after 8th grade. Every year, this scholarship is given to one lakh students across the country. A student can get 12 thousand rupees annually. Applications are invited for this between August and October every year. A student has to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Who will get the benefit – For this, at least 55 per cent marks should be obtained on the 8th. For this it is also necessary to appear in the selection test. A minimum of 55 per cent marks in 7th grade is mandatory to appear in the selection test. Family income should not exceed Rs 1.50 annually.

3. AICTE Pragati Scholarship

This scholarship is only for girl students. A maximum of two girls in a family can benefit from this scholarship. Every year 5000 such scholarships are given by the government. Under this, the beneficiary gets 50 thousand rupees and other facilities annually.

Applications are invited for this from September to October every year. One has to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal.

Who will get the benefit – Students who are studying in a technical degree or diploma course in first or second year. Those who have been admitted to that course through lateral entry on the basis of 12th marks. Annual family income should be less than or equal to Rs 8 lakh annually.

4. AICTE Saksham Scholarship

This scholarship scheme is being run to promote technical education especially among the able students. This benefit is given to the students who are specially competent and studying for a technical degree or diploma course. Under this, every beneficiary is given a scholarship of 50 thousand rupees and other facilities. Applications are sought between September – October. Applications can be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal.

Eligibility for AICTE Saksham Scholarship – Students who are at least 40% disabled, have admission in first year through lateral entry in degree or diploma course in an AICTE affiliated institute. Student’s family income must be Rs 8 lakh or less annually.

5. Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF)

Prime Minister Research Fellowship is given to promote the research trend in students; that means the PMRF programme is for research at PhD level in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine. It is a joint initiative of the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Students enrolled in PhD programs in an institute capable of PMRF grant benefit from this. The PMRF scheme provides scholarships to PhD students up to INR 10.92 lakhs per annum, 50% of which will be provided by the government and the remaining 50% will be by a sponsoring industry for a duration of four years. However, according to the guidelines of this fellowship for the student, it is also necessary to get other qualifications. Applications are invited twice a year for this scholarship.

Jnanabhumi Scholarship 2020: Online Registration, Eligibility, Status, Renewal

Many scholarship schemes are announced by the Andhra Pradesh state government for the students. Economically Weaker Section people cannot afford their children’s education so Andhra Pradesh Government offers different schemes of scholarship. It is launched in the year 2017. Ambedkar Overseas Vidyanidhi Scheme

Maharashtra Scholarship 2020-21: Complete Registration Process, Eligibility, Result, Last Date

Many scholarship schemes are announced by the Maharashtra state government for the students. Maharashtra Scholarships are for students who belong to different categories. Maharashtra has the 2nd highest literacy rate in India among all the states. So it has emerged as an educational hub. It has one Central University, 19 state universities, and 21 deemed universities which creates an atmosphere of education for the students who are the residents of the state and also for the outsiders. Maharashtra Scholarship – Apply Online

The stepwise application process to apply online for the Maharashtra Scholarship

Step 1: Online Registration

Both UID primarily based registration and Non – UID based registration are available.

For UID (Aadhar) Based Registration

  • Visit the MahaDBT Scholarship web site at https://mahadbtmahait.gov.in/
  • Select “New Applicant Registration”.
  • Register using Aadhaar number.
  • Choose authenticate type OTP (through aadhaar joined mobile number) or by using Biometric (if the mobile number is not joined with Aadhaar)
  • When the Aadhaar details are verified, fill all the necessary details on the form.
  • Make candidates login details (username and password)
  • Check the email ID and mobile number via OTP for successful registration.
  • Save the details and proceed.

For Non-UID (Non-Aadhar) based registration

  • Visit the MahaDBT gov on the Scholarship Website.
  • Click on “New Applicant Registration”.
  • Select “No” and register either by using the generated Aadhaar or by under process Aadhaar number.
  • Fill all the details.
  • Verify the email ID and mobile number through OTP for successful registration.
  • Make candidates login details (username and password)
  • Upload candidates photo and supporting documents
  • Click on “Register” to finish registration.

Step 2: User Login Procedure

  • Click on “Applicant login”.
  • Enter username and password as entered throughout registration to log in.
  • If the students forget the password, they can click on the “Forget password” button.

Step 3: Submission of Form

  • After successful login, students can see the Welcome page by default.
  • Update the candidates’ profile by clicking on “Profile” Icon.
  • If the candidate’s profile is 100% complete, students can now click on the all schemes button.
  • Select the scholarship applicant wants to apply for.
  • Proceed with the scholarship application by clicking on the “Apply” button
  • Enter all the details and upload documents (if required).
  • Finally, submit the application.

Step 4: Check Application Status (Maharashtra scholarship status)

  • By clicking on “Applied Schemes”, candidates can check their online application status anytime.
  • If the application is under scrutiny, it will be seen as “Under Scrutiny Applications”.
  • If the application is rejected, it will be seen as “Rejected Applications” and “Approved Applications”, if approved.
