Question 1

On what factors does the resistance of a conductor depend?

Answer

Resistance is the tendency of a resistor to oppose the flow of current.

R= ρl/A

R is resistance, ρ is resistivity, l is length of conductor and A is area of cross section of current carrying conductor.

It depends upon the following factors:

(a) Temperature of the conductor

(b) Cross-sectional area of the conductor

(c) Length of the conductor

(d) Material of the conductor
