Dermatology is a branch of medicine that deals with the human skin, and its various diseases, problems and deformities, and their effective treatment and solution. To be a dermatologist, the first step is to take up science at the plus two level, with physics, chemistry and biology. Thereafter try to get admission into a good medical college and complete MBBS degree. You can then do an MD in Dermatology, a two year course. You can also do a house job, get a diploma in dermatology, and then go for an DNB course of two years. Or go for a house job and appear for the National Board Examination, and then opt for the three year DNB program. Specialization options, especially cosmetic dermatology courses, are highly recognized in the West, thus for such programs you should go abroad.

This branch of medicine essential, but is not involved with such complexities as some others. The surgeries are also not life threatening conditions. Those who possess an interest in it, can be successful doctors as the demand has risen in recent times with the introduction of new treatments and dermatological corrections. To be trusted by a patient, you have to be able to build that trust. You should have a stable and skilled hands.

A dermatologist earns quite handsomely. It is a specialized field, thus there is scope and demand that exists. People pay attention not only to skin diseases like leprosy and infections today, but they have concerns like hair fall, baldness, pigmentation, etc to deal with, which are paid great attention. Urology is a specialization in the field of medicine that deals with the diseases of the urinary tract of females and males. The organs of the human body that urologists work on are the Kidney, Uterus, Urethra (female), Urinary Bladder, and male reproductive organs (testes, epididymis, vas defers, prostate, seminal vesicles, etc). And urologists are medical professionals who are educated, trained to diagnose, treat, and heal patients suffering from urological disorders.

Urology is a surgical specialty. Urologists should possess knowledge of internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, and other areas which are requisite. The specializations or sub-sects in urology are –

Pediatric Urology – Urological disorders in children are concerns of this.

Urologic Oncology – Related to cancer of the prostate, the adrenal glands, urinary bladder, the kidney, ureters, testicles, and penis.

Renal Transplantation,

Male Infertility, Calculi (urinary tract stones),

Endourology – The surgery uses small cameras and instruments that are inserted into the urinary tract.

Laparoscopy – A surgical method to treat disorders.

Andrology – Focus is the male reproductive system, organs, diseases, and cure.

Reconstructive Urology – It is the reestablishment of the functionality of the genito-urinary tract.

It bears a close association with other branches of medicine, that of gynecology, oncology, nephrology, andrology, endocrinology, pediatric surgery, gastroenterology, etc.

Urologists are doctors who perform such urological functions. They study problems of the urinary tract. And perform laparoscopic surgeries related to it, such as surgery of the prostate, the bladder, uterus. They are also involved in the stone removing operations, clearing of blockages, cancerous growths, and in the repair of abnormalities. Urologists perform Vasectomy on men.

The effective combination of managing medical (non-surgical) problems, like urinary tract infection, and surgical problems, like cancer, are all done simultaneously by urologists.

To be able to get into Urology, you should have a science background with physics, chemistry, and biology combination in school. You should then apply for an MBBS degree from a reputed medical college. Once you have done so, you can opt for a specialization in Urology. Should be immensely knowledgeable and keep himself always aware of the latest developments and innovations and inventions in his field of specialization.

Empathy and listening ability

As important as the ability to talk, so is the ability to listen. You need an empathetic ear. Only then the patient will be able to trust you and entrust you with their confidence. Correct diagnosis and treatment depend on this many a time.

Good Philosopher

A doctor’s treatment of patients should always be holistic. Apart from handing the latter a list of medicines, you should also counsel about diet, correct exercise, and stress management. This is what a wise doctor does, who is not just providing service in exchange for money and not arrogant about his profession.

Dissociation

Do not get too attached to your patients. You have to be empathetic and kind, like a family member and understanding. But if you get associated and emotional about them, the treatment and care will get deterred.

Order and cleanliness

How a doctor dresses up, his personal hygiene conditions, and the state of his clinic chamber, reveal the gravity he associates with his profession. Patients usually stay away from dirty and unorganized healthcare centres.
