Haryana Scholarship 2025 – Apply Online, Eligibility & Benefits

The Government of Haryana's Haryana Education Department launched the "Haryana State Merit Scholarship Scheme" with the aim of providing financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections so that they can continue their higher studies.

The objective of this scheme is to offer Merit-cum-Poverty Scholarships to talented persons belonging to economically backward sections who are pursuing General University Education courses for degrees, post-graduate studies, and doctorates. The students are eligible to apply under this scheme if they qualify the specified public examination held by Punjab University, Kurukshetra University, or any other body that is notified by the awarding authority. Applicants who are students residing in the state of Haryana and whose parents or guardians are Indian citizens are also qualified to apply.

Students who cannot pursue their studies due to various reasons, such as financial instability, would highly appreciate the scholarship. As not everyone can support an education in Haryana, which is a financially weak state, this act would certainly help all children acquire a good education and healthy life.

And one of the issues is the economic barrier. The biggest impediment is the perception in society that education is an additional, voluntary expenditure.

Students who want to apply for the Haryana Har Chatravriti scholarship have to do so online.  Interested candidates have to adhere to the regulations given below:

• If you are a fresh user, click the "Online Registration" link on the site of Har Chhatravritti. Existing customers who avail themselves of the scholarship facility can register directly.

• A list of your family members will appear when you input your family's Parivar Pehchaan Patra (Family ID).  Select your name from the list of family members after which you need to click on the "Generate OTP" option.

• After inputting your registered phone number and entering the OTP received by you, click the "Verify OTP" option.

• Once your OTP is confirmed, your entire profile will be filled out automatically by the Har Chhatravritti scholarship form.   Kindly ensure that all information is correct.

• After creating your account password, click "Register" after choosing your department and college.

• Fill in your username and password on the Har Chhatravritti login page to submit an application for the SC/BC Post-Matric Scholarship.

• Supply all the information needed, like the course, roll number, eligibility documents, etc.

• Click the "Apply" icon to submit your Haryana Post-Matric Scholarship application

The student will be selected after satisfying the eligibility criteria:

• Before applying for the application form, the student will have to satisfy the eligibility criteria. 

• Only candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria fully will be taken into consideration. 

• After that, they have to carry out the interview as ordered by the authorities.

• If the applicant has a functional and seeded bank account, they will be eligible.

• To qualify for this, the students need to achieve good grades and be open to being interviewed by interviewers.

The eligibility criteria for each Haryana scholarship are:

1. Free books and free uniform of children of state of Haryana

Candidates who are from scheduled caste and are willing to study get the free uniform and the course material for free by the government. 

Eligibility:

• The students should live in the Haryana State.

• The person who is applying should be a scheduled caste. 

• They should be registered in a post-matriculation course at an approved college, university or other institution in Haryana.

• Applicants should have at least a 60% attendance record in their classes.

2. Aapki beti hamari beti

As an initiative of Haryana State Government's Aapki Beti Hamari Beti scheme, Rs 21,000 are invested in Life Insurance Corporation LIC in the names of SC/BPL families' first girl child and second child of any caste. Upon attaining age 18 years, the girl child will get provisional Third-born girls from any caste family were also included as on August 24, 2015.

This program is intended to improve the child-to-sex ratio as well as enhance females' education, survival and health in the state. In order to realize her potential, every girl child deserves to be born and to receive an education.

Eligibility:

• Either one parent has to reside in Haryana with their daughter or the parents both need to be the residents of Haryana.

• Female children have to be registered in a school or Anganwadi center.

• Scheduled Caste (SC) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families can avail of the scheme if their first born girl child was born on or after January 22, 2015.

• It is also extended to any family, irrespective of caste, religion, money or number of males, having a second daughter born on or after that date.

3. Free books for SC candidates

The Department of Higher Education, Government of Haryana, launched the "Free Books Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students Pursuing Higher Education" on July 1st, 2008.  The objective is to encourage students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) to pursue higher studies.  SC students studying in government colleges would be given ₹2,000/-per student per year under this scheme to purchase books.  The scheme will be utilized at all Haryana government colleges.

Eligibility:

• Students must reside in the Haryana State.

• The person who is applying should be a scheduled caste. 

• They have to be admitted to a post-matriculation course at a Haryana-approved college, university, or other institution.

• They should be present in class at a minimum of 60%.

4. Scholarship for DNT and EWS students (Post matric)

The students belonging to disadvantaged groups will be able to pursue their education and enhance their abilities due to this scholarship, which tries to reduce their financial burden.  The scholarship covers tuition fees, living costs and other study expenses. The financial assistance is provided to students studying in both public and private universities.

Eligibility:

• Applicants should be permanent residents of the state of Haryana.

• The person should come from the state's Denotified and Nomadic Tribes, or Backward Classes or  Economically Weaker Section. 

• A student who is applying should be enrolled in post matric from any government recognized educational institution. 

• Applicants should have cleared the Board of Secondary Education or a known university's matriculation, upper secondary, or any other higher level examination.

• A guardian or parent's overall annual family income from every source cannot exceed Rs.2,50,000.

5. Govt ITI scholarship ( For SC candidates)

The Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of the Government of Haryana established "ITIs."  Under this scheme, merit students belonging to Scheduled Castes studying in Government ITIs of Haryana are provided with financial assistance in terms of scholarships and reimbursement of their fees.

Eligibility:

• Students must reside in Haryana.

• Applicants should belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) groups of the State of Haryana.

• They should be studying in a government ITI to continue their studies.​

6. Merit cum means scholarship ( SC candidates)

To benefit students belonging to the economically weaker sections of society.  Students belonging to scheduled castes are the major beneficiaries of this scholarship.  To ensure that the applicant actually benefits financially from this prestigious award, they should also fulfill the low-income criteria.

Eligibility:

• The candidates must be permanent residents of Haryana; 

• The family must make between Rs. 2,50,000 and Rs. 3,50,000 per year; 

• Only government, aided, or private technical institutions authorized by the Technical Education Department, Haryana, in accordance with the plans under the State Government's Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP) schemes are permitted to regularly teach AICTE-approved courses to students. 

7. State merit scholarship (UG/PG)

The Haryana Directorate of Higher Education is offering female students within the state pursuing general undergraduate degree courses the State Merit Scholarship for UG Girls Students, Haryana 2024–2025.  The selected candidates would receive ₹3,000 per year.

Eligibility:

• The candidates should be residing in Haryana as their permanent residence.

• Unless otherwise directed by the granting authorities, students should have passed the prescribed public examination of Punjab, Kurukshetra University, or any other examining authority.

8. Meritorious Incentive scheme (CBSE)

To give deserving students who score high marks in the CBSE yearly exams financial rewards.  Each year, a selected number of students are given an incentive that pays for their tuition fees up to graduation. The objectives of the program are to identify excellence and achievement in the CBSE Class 12th and 10th board exams, assist students in pursuing further studies without any financial constraints, and encourage scholastic excellence among the students by providing cash rewards to leading CBSE students.

Eligibility:

• Aspirants should be living in Haryana as their permanent residence.

• In the annual CBSE exam, they should have ranked first in Class 10/12.

• They are required to register as regular students for Class 12 or bachelor degree courses in an accredited institution of Haryana.

9. Meritorious incentive scheme (state) 

Formed specifically for high-achieving university students.  The government will reward the top three students from each of the following streams - medical, non-medical, business, arts and education - each year under this scheme.

Eligibility:

• The students are required to stay in Haryana as their domicile.

• They should have obtained first, second, or third position in the university annual examination.

• At a well-recognized government college, one must be registered for general arts, commerce, science, and education streams of study.

10. Haryana State Merit Scholarship for Undergraduate Girls Students

to inspire further education among meritorious girl students by disbursing ₹3,000 each year in scholarships to ten meritorious girl students from each government school who have performed exceptionally well on their 10+2 examination.  The Directorate of Higher Education, Haryana, implements the scheme, which ensures academically talented students can complete their UG degree without any financial burden. The scholarship is awarded through Direct Benefit Transfer  and is awarded on the basis of merit, with renewal conditions.

Eligibility:

• Students have to live in Haryana as their permanent residence.

• Applicants should have scored a minimum of 60% in Class 12.

• They need to be admitted to any government college's general degree courses.

11. Haryana's Grandchildren of Freedom Fighters Consolidated Stipend Scheme

Provide financial assistance for further study to the descendants of independence fighters who are in their third generation.  The program offers the eligible students a yearly allowance of books and a monthly allowance for supporting their education.  It is the responsibility of the Haryana Department of Higher Education to implement the program. Students studying non-professional courses in government and government-aided colleges and universities in the state are eligible for the stipend.  The assistance is provided on merit and is subject to good behavior and attendance.

Eligibility:

• The candidates should be residing in Haryana as their home state.

• The students need to belong to the SC category.

• They should be third-generation grandchildren of liberation fighters.

• Students are eligible to apply if they are studying non-professional courses in state universities or are undertaking higher studies at government or non-government-aided colleges.

• Applicants need to have registered at least 50% attendance in the last three months.

12. Haryana Eligibility Criteria for the Consolidated Stipend Scheme for SC Students

A monthly stipend of ₹1,000 would be granted to SC students studying in Government Colleges under the scheme.  The scheme would be utilized in all government colleges of Haryana, and the stipend would be disbursed bi-monthly, as long as the students attend at least 60% of the courses.

Eligibility:

• The students need to be residents of Haryana as their home.

• Applicants should be under the SC category.

• They should have attained 60% class attendance and be in a Haryana government college.

13. Haryana Post-Matric Scholarships for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students

The students from such disadvantaged groups will be able to pursue their education and enhance their abilities due to this scholarship, which tries to mitigate their financial hardships.  Tuition fees, living allowances, and other study expenses are subsidized by the scholarship.  The scholarship for financial assistance is open to students who are enrolled in both private and public universities.

Eligibility:

• Students should be a permanent resident of Haryana belonging to OBC,EBC or DNT category.

• Only students opted for post-matriculation courses are eligible.

• The family should be less than Rs. 2 lakhs 50 thousands per year.

14. Post-Matric Scholarships for SC Students in Haryana

An opportunity afforded to SC pupils in the state pursuing post-matric or post-secondary education by the Directorate of Higher Education, Haryana.  Through awarding them financial assistance, this scheme intends to significantly increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio of SC students pursuing higher education, particularly those belonging to poor families.  Apart from other benefits, the selected students would receive an academic allowance of up to 13,500 naira.

Eligibility:

• The students should be permanently residing in Haryana or should be a state resident.

• The applicants should belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) category.

• They should be failing in one of the specified institutions and pursuing further education at the post-matric or post-secondary level from an accredited institution, college, or university.

• The family's yearly income must not exceed Rs.2,50,000.

Candidates can easily renew the application if needed by the following steps:

• Student need to login to Scholarship official portal

• After entering the login details the candidate gets the info of all the details of him or her

• On that portal a candidate can click on renewal option for renewal of the scholarship

• Submit all the details to the portal once again for re -verification. 

• After successful submission of all the details the renewal process from the candidate’s end is done and will now be forwarded to authorities for validation purposes.

Que. In 2025, what Haryana scholarships can I apply for?

All of the scholarship schemes will be available to interested and eligible students as soon as they are open for application.  Throughout the year, the "Aapki Beti Hamari Beti Scheme" is available.

Que. Who can apply for Haryana scholarship programs?

The Har-Chhatravritti Portal provides the eligibility criteria for a number of scholarship schemes.  It varies based on the scheme.  Scholarships are offered to students studying classes in Haryana and are eligible under the requirements of the different plan standards.  Moreover, the Home Page of the Portal contains the detailed instructions.

Que. Does receipt under scholarship schemes necessitate Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP)?

Any applicant needs to enroll in Parivar pehchan patra to get the benefit of the scholarship. All the necessary details such as aadhar number, name, DOB, address and other should be properly and precisely updated in PPP as fast as possible to get the benefit. 

Que. Is Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP)compulsory to get the benefit of scholarship?

One needs to enroll in Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) to avail the scholarship benefits.  It is mandatory for the applicants to ensure that their details, such as name, date of birth, Aadhar number, etc., are updated early in PPP before submitting an application for any scholarship program or scheme.

Que. How can one sign up for an account on the Har-Chhatravritti Portal?

The candidates are required to click the "Register" icon on the Home Page of the Har-Chhatravritti Portal. The Family ID found in the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) is to be filled in.  The drop-down list will display the family members' list.  Select the name of the student, and a cellphone number will get an OTP.  All the details of the student will be filled into the registration form upon OTP verification. Submit by clicking the button after providing the password. Upon registration, a special password and username shall be delivered by SMS to the registered mobile number.
