Have you ever imagined of being able to make people dance to your tunes. If music is your passion and mixing tunes your hobby, all you have to do is to buckle a headphone and get set to land in a new world of a disc jockey or a DJ as you may call him. He is the person who selects and plays prerecorded music for an audience. Most professional DJs are responsible for mixing tunes, forming beats and creating an ambiance in the club, since they are the ones who build up a party with their choice of music. So if have the inclination and the love for music, you have an open invitation to party all night.

Commitment as a Student & Job Commitment

As a DJ you are always a student learning to develop and master new techniques to entertain the audience. You need to devote long hours to practicing which will help you sense the mood of the audience. You need to have all the right reasons in place before choosing this profession. Choose it for the passion of it and not the glamor and should enter this domain only if you know what you really want and if this makes you happy. Be prepared for working odd hours as a club disc jockey regular hour’s start usually around 8:00 P.M. and go on till 4:00 A.M. Most DJs don’t socialize regularly with people who do not keep the same unusual hours due to which isolation creeps in.

A DJ needs to maintain the right level of energy to keep people dancing all night .He has to strike a balance between the hardcore crowds without annoying the ladies. He has to learn to avoid the two extremes from blowing up the sound system to a permanent silence.

All you need is perseverance and commitment along with beautiful music in your life to make everyone enjoy.

Basic Qualification

There is a lot to learn when you start anything new and becoming a DJ is no exception. You’ll have to know about cartridges, needles, mixers and tables. You’ll need to learn what pitch and tempo is and how to scratch or beatmix. Any background in playing musical instruments is an added asset.

A formal degree education is not the basic requirement in order to become a successful DJ. All you will need is to master both the technical and creative aspects of being a DJ. You need to learn about professional audio equipment used in most places. If you want to battle or DJ at hot night clubs or hip-hop grooves, you will probably want to learn how to scratch. If you plan on becoming a DJ for weddings, the bride and groom probably don’t want to hear a DJ scratching away. They just want the music to keep playing all night. When you decide to become a DJ, don’t be afraid to try everything, the more talents you have, the more job opportunities are available.

A DJ can be extremely successful once he is able to strike the right chord with the audience. Important point is having the awareness of the music trend and to know what’s in and what’s out. This is why a DJ has to regularly watch TV and listen to the radio and keep a track of the new releases. You would not want a crowd standing on the dance floor staring at the ceiling. To keep the crowds energy up you as the DJ must use your equipment skillfully and creatively.

Attitude Aptitude & Skills

For someone starting out to be a DJ, the only thing that will help you is practice on the job. There are many aspects of DJing that requires you to be reasonably intuitive and the more you practice the more you can go to the depth of understanding the art. As an entertainer you should be able to work your music, know the songs well, and get your beat mixing down solid. This is how and where your natural progression will start. If you think you cannot to do it on your own, and have a need to get the basics right, then professional training with an expert is required. There are few qualities and skills and technical knowledge that one can acquire but the basic art of making people have fun and dance to your tune is something that you need to have it in you. You have to feel the party, and understand the audience in order to give them the music that they would enjoy the most. Club DJs must keep the crowd interested in dancing, so they must know a wide variety of styles and songs that appeal to different groups and be sensitive to listener responses. You have to know the pulse of the audience at all times.

Finances

There is not much required in terms of financial investment. All you need to invest is time and effort to learn the tricks of the trade. You can work as an assistant to learn about the technical aspect of DJing or take up short term courses being offered at various Film institutes. As they are short courses to hone your skills, you can take these up while working.

Future Prospects

Disc-Jockeys across the globe are seen as an integral part of the music industry. Club disc jockeys move to careers in the record industry, primarily as liaisons between other DJs and the company itself. With music and parties moving out of clubs to weddings and private gatherings, the DJs will always be in demand to make the party last the night.

Do you have in you?

A Bartender is not someone who loves to drink, but is in love with cocktails. The colorful liquids intrigue and excite him. A Bartender is an expert; an artist; as important for a bar as chef is to restaurant. Anyone who is interested in trying out different things and not scared of taking up the challenges of a less sought after profession, Bartender is the profession. It is playing with different components to create an exciting combination. Sounds interesting? A Bartender does exactly this.

Commitment as a Student & Job Commitment

A Bartender has to be able to work round the clock. There is no timing especially during the party, festival and marriage season. You have to be able to take the pressure of the job. And strive constantly to not only serve the regular and known combinations, but new ones as well. Only one who is truly committed can survive in this profession as the demand is for the best here and as it is not a huge sector, highly paying jobs are less. It is an effort of a lifetime. You have to also be able to face the people who look down upon this profession and maybe even your near and dear ones. This is not to make you apprehensive or de-motivate you; but this can be the bitter reality of the profession. A dedicated approach is a necessity.

Basic Qualification

Considered to be a segment of hotel management course, today there are separate specialized bartending institutes that teach specifically the art of mixing drinks. If you have decided that this is what interests you, is your passion and you want to make this your profession, then it is always a better option to join such an institute than a generalized one. This will provide expertise and better knowledge as well as training.

Attitude Aptitude & Skills

You have to love your profession. This may not be a cake walk that will guarantee an instant high paying job to you. Patience is the trait that you will need to master. An apprenticeship is helpful. Long working hours and working under all circumstances is an integral part of the job of a bartender. At times many abuse bartenders when they are not in their senses or may make unreasonable demands. A bartender should be able to tackle as well as handle such situations. Highly experimental and not having the fear of failure or scorn are traits that need to be imbibed. Also you have to be able to judge your customer before you provide a drink. A good bartender is one who knows exactly what, and in how much quantity, should be served. Never say no, but also be diplomatic. And complete love for the profession is the most essential requirement of the profession. It can be heart breaking or upsetting at times, and only a strong determination will see you through. Those who survive are the ones who actually deserve the credits and benefits of this profession. And when you have customers coming up to you to thank you or appreciate you, or come to your bar specifically to have the toast served by you, or the papers have a feature on you, the pride will show on your face. A never-say-die outlook paves the way to fame and success.

Future Prospects

A profession that had negligible regard and opportunities, has become a highly paying and upcoming profession. Expert bartenders are sought after by hotels, restaurants, and the corporate sector. And they are in much demand in high profile parties and get together. Today trained and experimentalist bartenders are employed the way good chefs are. They draw the crowd and are thus in great demand. If you can experiment and tingle the taste buds, then you will not find a dearth of jobs in this field. And the good news is that even women are being employed.
