In the five kingdom system of Whittaker, how many kingdoms are eukaryotes?

Answer

Living beings have been classified into 5 kingdoms: Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia and this classification was proposed by R. H. Whittaker in 1969. There are four kingdoms that are eukaryotes in this five kingdom system except Monera:

  1. Protista (this is the kingdom of Unicellular Eukaryotes)
  2. Fungi (this is the kingdom of multicellular decomposers and spore- producing eukaryotic organisms)
  3. Plantae (this is the kingdom of multicellular producers and eukaryotes)
  4. Animalia (this is the kingdom of multicellular consumers, eukaryotes, without cell wall and photosynthetic pigments)
