Training Sessions
Regular training sessions should be held so that it enables students to learn more than the bookish knowledge imparted in classrooms. Such methodology if used by teachers develops students’ interest in the subject, imparts practical training, and makes it easier to soak in the lessons. Hands on experience is becoming more and more common and much required.
Use of latest technology
The faculty should be aware and well versed with latest technology related to their field of teaching. Constant research and keeping updated with the market, makes studies more effective for students. Books cannot be updated so often, but such knowledge is essential for industry knowledge. This will help the students be industry educated and find suitable jobs.
Projects and Papers
Teachers should assign assignments to students quite frequently, but not overdo it. After the class, it is a typical phenomenon that the latter keeps aside the books and forgets the lessons till the day of exam. To help absorb the lesson, an assignment, project or paper is necessary, which will make students go through the notes, find out more about it, and use his understanding to generate a logical paper.
Field Trips / Industry Trips
To get a feel of the subject, a real life experience, and to know what to expect once out of college, such trips should be organized at intervals. They are not only interesting, but also intriguing, and students usually race their minds to understand and generate queries that benefit them. It also helps them decide if the particular field interests them or not.
Personal Sessions
A class room is a restricted space where most doubts cannot be clarified. The time is devoted to teaching with minimal time given to queries. Thus there should be teacher-students sessions, with individual students or in very small groups with time dedicated only to questions from students. There can also be group discussions after every chapter gets over which should enable the teacher to grasp what has not been understood, correct the misconceptions, and clarify doubts. Group discussions are engaging and forces to think, which is key to effective learning.
